Exercise is something that should feel good and give you a break from the everyday pressure of life. It’s a way to keep your body and your mind healthy!
Pilates involves engaging the body and the mind at the same time to work out the whole body in a purposeful and effective way. My sessions are here to guide you and help you get where you want to be and reach your goals without putting an unfair amount of pressure on you or forcing you on strict diets or exercise regimens that aren’t sustainable or healthy.
I’m simply here to help you reach your goals using Pilates.

But how do you know if Pilates is the right exercise for you?
You’re in daily pain
Your body doesn’t feel as it should and you’ve had enough. Whether it’s constant back pain from sitting at a desk all day or you can’t drive for an extended period of time comfortably or perhaps you can’t sleep on your back at night and feel comfortable?
Whatever it is, your body isn’t meant to constantly aching or be in pain so it’s time to fix that.
Going to the gym isn’t working for you
Working out in the gym doesn’t feel right for you; you don’t have the time and it isn’t getting you the results you’re after.
You’re ready to try something else and would love more direction when it comes to exercise to give you a new sense of motivation.
You’re pregnant or have just given birth and want to exercise in a safe way
Ready to go from unmotivated and confused about exercise to confident and happy?
Hi there, I’m Mariam
I’m a professional dancer with over 20 years of experience in the fitness and dance industry. I discovered Pilates in my early dance career and was amazed at how much it helped me become stronger, more flexible and a much better dancer. I have continued to practice it ever since.
After seeing how much of a positive impact Pilates had on my body I decided to gain a deeper knowledge of the practice to be able to help as many people as possible through the medium of Pilates. This led to me gaining my professional qualifications in Personal Training, Pre & Post Natal, Mat & Reformer Pilates.
I now teach Pilates classes in my fully equipped home studio near Market Bosworth, Leicestershire and I love every minute of it.
My classes are designed to help everyone discover the joy in Pilates whilst improving their health and fitness.
In my studio, we value open-mindedness and communication so we can learn from each other and make the most out of our classes. This paired with mutual respect for each other and for the practice of Pilates, and a commitment to dedication, will mean you’ll soon start to feel stronger and reap the benefits of Pilates.

“Pilates has increased my strength, posture and overall health. No more aching back since I began training with Mariam. She is a highly-trained and skilled instructor who really understands the human body. I used to train twice a week with Mariam. She knew how to change almost all the exercises to compensate for my wrist injury and my heart condition. And when I got PREGNANT I still trained with her smoothly because of her great knowledge and experience with all types of positions and exercise options possible for a pregnant woman. She has helped me a lot with all her advice. She is a genuine, committed and professional instructor a person can wish for. Thank you Mariam ”

Pilates is an exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates. It involves both the body and the mind, ensuring that each movement is performed with attention to the breath to create a whole-body workout. The ultimate focus of Pilates is to help people learn to move better and improve their fitness to benefit their everyday life.
Pilates can be done using a reformer machine or on the mat as well as using other props to help make your workouts more dynamic so you can get the most out of your workout.
The beauty of Pilates is that it can benefit everyone, no matter what age you are or your previous experience level. Pilates, especially when taught on a 1-to-1 basis, can be tailored to suit you, wherever you are on your journey.
There are a whole wealth of benefits such as:
- Building stronger core muscles
- Increased flexibility, coordination, speed, agility and endurance
- Enhanced body control
- It can help ensure your muscle and bone structure are in their optimal states
- It’s a safe, effective and low-impact exercise for pregnant women
- Helping them prepare for birth and recover quickly after giving birth
- It can help relieve the stress that is stored as tension in your body, leaving you feeling more relaxed after each session
Your body is pain-free, and you feel more capable and less restricted in your movements. Your overall fitness has increased and you’re less stressed in your day-to-day life.
It sounds like this state of being might be hard to achieve but I promise you it is entirely possible and Pilates can help you get there.

“I visited Mariam after suffering recurring back issues from working out in the gym and spending long hours at my desk. Mariam was able to diagnose the issue quickly and establish a regime that alleviated the symptoms whilst also strengthening my core, ensuring that I fixed the underlying problem. Mariam’s workouts were challenging, yet always varied, ensuring that I never got bored and could see my progression as our workouts continued. I highly recommend Mariam’s coaching.”

Is Pilates safe if I’m pregnant or a new mum?
Absolutely. When instructed in the right way, Pilates is a great form of exercise for those who are pre or post-partum. It’s important to be careful with what exercise you do when pregnant and to only train with those who are qualified. I have my Personal Training, Mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates and Pre and Post Natal qualifications so you are in safe hands when working with me. I would, however, always recommend checking with your doctor if you are safe to exercise before booking a class.
Can I do Reformer Pilates if I’m a beginner or have never done Pilates before?
Yes. Reformer Pilates is brilliant for beginners as you get a lot of feedback from the machine. They are easy to use and get to grips with and I will guide you through each exercise so you will know what you’re doing every step of the way.
Does your home studio mean I’ll be in your house?
Although the studio is in our home, it is separate from our main living space. We have a dedicated section of our home, kitted out as a gym and a separate upstairs space for Pilates. The home studio is equipped with a reformer machine and other equipment to help you elevate your workouts. It is a private and peaceful space.
Why do you only offer 1:1 or 2:1 classes?
The reason I offer classes in this way is so I can give you all of my attention and guidance to help you make the most out of your workout. I’ve found that this personalised approach helps you to reach goals faster and more effectively.
What is the general structure of the classes?
All classes will start with a warm-up before moving on to the main exercises which are tailored to your needs and goals. After I will lead you in a cool down that mainly consists of stretching to release the nervous system. There will be gradual progression in each class.
If I have an injury, am I ok to start taking Pilates classes?
As long as you have received the go-ahead from your doctor or physician, absolutely. If you and your doctor are willing to share your latest notes about your injury, that would also be really helpful. Sessions will be built around your needs.
Is Pilates just for women or can men do it too?
Pilates can benefit everyone, men included. In fact, the creator of Pilates was a man who used the practice to elevate his performance and prevent ailments in his boxing and gymnastics activities. It’s great for building up your strength and flexibility which can benefit any other forms of exercise you may do.
Where is your home studio based?
My studio is located just outside Market Bosworth in Leicestershire. Once you have signed up for classes I will share the exact location and directions with you.
